The Focus Keyword Tool
KW Tech Solutions provides consultancy solutions to achieve their business objectives. The Focus Keyword Tool is a recreation of a part of an internal tool which was previously developed to help customers perform local SEO to wild success. It is simple to use, but produces effective results.
Discover relevant keyword suggestions, specific to the location of your server. Simply enter your focus keyword, and it will provide relevant suggestions. Group terms which interests to you, and run it through the system to find common topics to target.
History
The original version of this solution was developed back in 2020, as a proof of concept Python script for clients who had significant difficulties coming up with effective content for keywords targetting. While there were tools that helped generate “suggested” keywords, none explained their methodology or demonstrated clear evidence of their effectiveness. Some paid solutions were even a carbon copy of the freely available Google Keyword Planner!
Furthermore, it was often expressed that the content writers were less interested in targetting a specific item, and would rather find the “intersection” between the different themes and keywords on hand.
In 2024, KW Tech Solutions realised that there are still no good solutions that target this specific solution. KW Tech Solutions endeavours to help businesses in Singapore grow, to that end, we have since been ported this tool over to a WordPress Plugin and published as an open source solution for the community at large.
How Does It Work?
The plugin takes your initial keyword to generate the top related keyword for it. This is to help users come up with ideas to list as their keywords or themes that the system is supposed to find the commonality of.
Once the focus terms are inserted into the system, it would dig into the words that Google finds relevant via extracting the content that is shown. It would then display it to you as some simple bag of words analysis. The results are then ranked, and displayed to you.
Note: this plugin was only tested in English.
How do I install The Focus Keyword Tool?
Using the WordPress interface:
1. Login to your WordPress website.
2. Click on: “Plugins”.
3. Click on: “Add new”.
4. Search for this plugin, “The Focus Keyword Tool”. Or upload it.
5. Click on: “Install Now”.
6. After the plugin is installed, click on “Activate plugin”.
7. Go to the menu item: “Focus Keyword”.
Using FTP:
1. Download the plugin
2. Extract the plugin folder (the-focus-keyword-tool) from the zip archive.
3. Login on your server with FTP and navigate to the directory “wp-content/plugins”.
4. Copy the folder (the-focus-keyword-tool) into the plugins directory.
5. Login to your WordPress website.
6. Click on: “Activate plugin”.
7. Go to the menu item: “Focus Keyword”.

Frequently Asked Questions
To prevent your server from being automatically flagged out as spam, there are some rate limitations to its usage. This in line with the best practices recommended by the expert consultants at KW Tech Solutions.
For each item in the focus search field, there will be a 10 seconds gap between each trigger.
There will also be a 3 minutes gap between each trigger of the focus button, and a 30 seconds gap between each keyword search trigger.
This should not significantly affect normal usage.
No, as the code runs locally on your server, it has no rate limits.
